TREASURER - SARAH EVANS

TREASURER - SARAH EVANS

Hi I’m Sarah.  I’m originally for Warrington and have been living in Saddleworth for over 25 years. My career was spent in Human Resources, latterly working for a small local charity.  I’ve also served on the board of a Moss Side housing provider and have represented customers as a member of the Consumer Council for Water.

I’m a member of our WI book group, walking group through which I’ve met warm, friendly supportive and likeminded women.

I enjoy spending free time with family and friends, practising yoga, supporting a charity for retired greyhounds and getting outdoors in nature as much as possible.

VICE PRESIDENT - JO BARTON

Jo has lived in Saddleworth for 33 years moving first to Greenfield then to Uppermill where she has lived with her husband for 22 years.

She has a stepdaughter and family who are Swedish and is a frequent traveller there as well as to Majorca where she met her husband 30 years ago when he was living there. They still have a home on the east coast.

Interests are walking, skiing, gardening, reading, (member of the WI book club) and travelling to other countries.

Jo is a self-employed business consultant and has clients in the UK and Ireland.

Hi, I'm Eleanor. I joined Dovestone WI in June 2019.

I was born and bred in Saddleworth and I now live in Mossley.

I love to socialise and can often be found with a pint of real ale chatting away to folk.

I enjoy lots of crafting and will turn my hand to anything: from sewing, pyrography, pottery and carving, as well as making my own jewellery from recycled beads.

SUE DYSON

I am a mum and grandma. Took a law degree at 46 studied at home and became a lawyer at 53. Lived in Spain for several years. Started a VA business in 2008 which I still run and opened my Hypnosis and NLP business 2020. Love all kinds of music and reading and flowers. Oh and I have an elderly black cat called Lucky.

COMMITTEE MEMBER  & CAMPAIGN LEAD -
LISA CARTER

I moved to Uppermill when I got my first job teaching English at Saddleworth School in 1992. Since then I’ve taught in local primary schools and a secondary school in Stockport and am currently working part-time as a cover teacher in Milnrow (at my old secondary school) and lecturing at Bolton University. I live in Grasscroft with my family and crazy dog. I joined the WI in 2019 when I stopped full-time work, and also started volunteering with a local Guide group which is great fun. It’s so good having time to read, write, garden, travel, go out with family and friends … all possible now the piles of marking have disappeared!

I love the WI – it’s full of such kind and funny women and I’ve really enjoyed becoming a regular with the walking group and the crafters.

COMMITTEE MEMBER -

Prior to moving to Saddleworth 26 years ago I lived in Salford. Married with a adult daughter and son and two grandsons, I have previously worked for the NHS and Salford Education Youth Service as a youth leader. In the past my interests have included dinghy and motor sailing and caravanning.  l enjoy reading, walking, gardening and travel. My more adventurous travels have included accompanying my husband to Sierra Leone  West Africa as the country emerged from a bloody civil war, and an emergency evacuation as fighting once again shattered the peace.
